Market manager Kardien Gerbrands talks about Swindon’s farmers’ markets A very Happy New Year to everyone for 2015.

The farmers’ market started back last Sunday in a small way but this week sees a return to normality as stallholder numbers increase once more.

Pippin Doughnuts will be looking fresh faced after a decent rest, Rosie’s Relish and Pickle will be looking rosy and Lovett Pies will be looking lovely, while the Wiltshire Chilli farm might be feeling the cold, ha ha.

Also returning this week will be the Funky Falafel stall.

All of these regulars were away last week but now return with recharged batteries ready to tease your tastebuds. If you are on a healthy eating drive then look no further than your farmers’ market, as it has been scientifically proven that cooking meals from fresh ingredients and eating seasonal local produce will improve your health.

Food preparation and cooking take time and energy; unlike popping something in the microwave while watching TV!

Raw unprocessed foods also have a much higher vitamin and mineral count so that you maximise the benefits available in each food stuff as you cook from fresh.

Of course, local honey has a reputation for health benefits too so if you have a throaty cough or a bit of a sniffle then come on down to Seven Bridges Honey farm on Sunday at the Outlet for some truly local nectar.
