THE Little Big Festival continues with a picnic in the park taking place tomorrow, Wednesday, from 3.30 until 6.30pm.

The festival runs from April to September and the majority of events take place at the Town Gardens Bandstand at weekends. A variety of events take place in the gardens, fun for all the family. Ranging from music, chess, poetry, knitting, drama, bowls, yoga and much more.

The Picnic in the Park is an opportunity for dance and school groups to show off their talent. There will be art exhibitions in the Bowl from artists, Hannah Dosangh, Emily May, Tracey Hewitt and Mammy Wagon.

The line-up of entertainment is Lainesmead Primary School Dance Troop, Commonweal School Performing Arts Academy, and Singer Ruby Barnett from Lethbridge School, Teresa’s School of Dance and Romanska School of Dance.

At the moment Josie Williams, Little Big Festival coordinator and community arts development officer at Commonweal School is putting together the programme for August and September. She has been organising the event for several years and is keen to extend the popularity of the events to get more people involved.

There is no charge to perform or attend. Collections will take place for Commonweal School’s production of Billy Elliot which takes place in autumn.

Josie says: “A lot of families relax in the park so hopefully people will be able to reach their audience”.
