THE first festival of many music lovers' season is just weeks away.

The Wychwood Festival, which runs at Cheltenham Racecourse over the last weekend in May and into June, is the first of the year for many.

This year, the likes of UB40, The Proclaimers and Boney M, will grace the main stage, with the bill also featuring acts as varied as Mad Dog Mcrea, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Dr & The Medics, The Outcast Band, The Going Goods, Talk In Code and A Way With Words.

As well as the bigger names, the BBC Introducing Stage returns with a myriad of musicians from the surrounding counties.

And the family are catered for too, with the Children's Literature Festival line-up featuring a Wychwood first with a band made entirely of authors, along with everything from clay modeling to willow weaving, Ukulele performances to Samba and face painting to laughter yoga.

The festival features more than 50 activities and workshops as well as the music.

This year, the festival runs from May 29 to 31. Weekend and day tickets are on sale. For more details, the full line-up and to buy tickets, log on to www.wychwoodfestival.com.
