Swindon artists and musicians come together to celebrate the music of David Bowie and raise funds for the children of Syria.

Headlining the gig on Thursday, February 23 from 8pm, at The Vic, Victoria Road, Old Town is George Wilding. The singer songwriter will be performing his own take on Starman and Rock 'n' Roll Suicide.

Following on the huge success of last year's Bowie night, which raised £495, Bex Harrison is again organising the charity gig, which will send aid to the youngsters in Aleppo.

Bex said: "It was Violet McLaren landlady of The Vic who wanted to do something for the children of war-torn Syria. We have Kati Wood, who works in conjunction with Save the Children, co-ordinating the aid for Aleppo. It is free entry but we are asking for donations on the night.''

Bex will be stepping up to the mic to open the night singing Moonage Daydream.

Other attractions include the ever popular Anish Harrison, who is currently teamed up with Neil Mercer in Canute's Plastic Army, who will also be singing Bowie songs including Five Years.

Rob Beckinsale from Aural Candy will be pumping up the keys with his own Bowie interpretations, DJ Dust will be manning the decks, and Peter Chun will be keeping order as compere, auctioneer and master of karaoke.

The auction includes three very different commissioned portraits of the The Thin White Duke, one from illustrator Tarren Taz Malham, and artists Sue Taylor and David Messam. All three will be helping with the auction on the night. For more details call 01793 535713 or visit www.thevicswindon.com - Flicky Harrison
