Swindon reggae band Subject A will be playing their album Sleepwalkers on Sunday, February 25 at The Vic, Victoria Road, Old Town, Swindon from 8pm.
Subject A is the new Pop-A-Top Records band led by Erin Bardwell (keys) and Dean Sartain (bass) along with guests including Matty Bane (drums). Matty is the drummer with The Neville Staple Band.
They will be supported by with DJs Nevil Banton and Bobby The Persuader. Tickets are £3 advance or £4 on door.
Old 1990s Swindon Ska band The Skanxters are back in the saddle at The Vic on Saturday, March 10. They band originally ran from 1991-1998 with many line ups involving 15 or so different local musicians over that time, and many many off shoots and other local bands were inspired by them including: Lazyboy, Unity, EB Collective, The Nomarks, Shrink, Screaming Gallahs, Pod, Blue Trees, More Specials, Clone Radio, Hipdaytona, Ska Trek, 24/7, Flex & The Longman.
The Skanxters appeared at many of the local music venues including the Brunel Rooms, Park Hotel, Monkey Club, Level 3, The Old Nick at Bassett and Hardings as well as all over the UK.
The ska band released a four-track cassette, a CD, and a 12” vinyl of which the track Stupid Place To Be got played on Radio One in 1994. Tickets are £6 in advance and £7 on the door.
