An invitation has gone got to all young singers and actors to ‘Consider Yourself’ one of the cast of Oliver SALOS, musical theatre company, are staging the show, based on the Charles Dickens’ tale of Oliver Twist, at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre, in the autumn.

A theatrical workshop has been set up to select a young chorus line, on Monday, May 5, at Churchfields Academy. The auditions, in the shape of a drama workshop, will be taken by a team of professional coaches who specialise in drama, singing and dancing, The director of the show is Russell Langdown. He will be supported by his team of professionals: associate director Sandra Gilbert, musical dIrector Malcolm Webb and choreographer Gemma Short.

Russell said: “The roles of Dodger and Oliver will be played by boys, but SALOS will be casting a chorus of boys and girls to play the workhouse chorus and Fagin’s Gang. If some children just wish to experience the workshop without being considered for casting they are very welcome to do so.’’ The auditions will be for children aged seven years and above. They will be playing the parts of youngsters aged between seven and 16 years.

Oliver was first presented on a professional stage in 1952, it has enjoyed continued success in the West End, been made into a blockbuster movie featuring Ron Moody and has just completed a national tour. The show includes all the favourite numbers such as Who Will Buy, Food Glorious Food, I’d Do Anything, Be Back Soon, Consider Yourself and You’ve Got To Pick A Pocket or Two.

SALOS production will run from Tuesday, October 21, to Saturday, October 25, with a matinee on the Saturday, and the cast will have two groups of children performing on alternative performances.

The youngsters need to be able to rehearse on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 7pm to 8.30pm with some additional Sunday run-throughs.
