EMMA DUNN previews #theorder and learns it could have a chilling effect

USING social media will never be the same again for people who watch TS Theatre Productions’ performance of #theorder.

In a world where social media rules the masses, would you post a no makeup selfie because your news feed told you to?

The show, by the Swindon based theatre group, will be at The Victoria pub in Old Town on Sunday at 7.30pm.

Director, Holly Farmer, who is making her directing debut, said: “#theorder is all about how social media affects us.

“It has been written by local playwright Peter Hynds. His previous work ‘Choice’ was performed as part of the Madam Renards Mini Fringe Festival 2014 and transferred to The ETC Theatre in Camden earlier in the year.

“This is my directing debut. So we are all really excited about this one.”

The theatre group performed #theorder at Oxford University as part of the annual Tingewick fundraiser in March.

They will now be performing the show in full at The Victoria for an audience in Swindon on Sunday.

And Holly said people are in for a good night.

“We hope lots of people will come along to support this fantastic piece of new writing,” she said.

TS Theatre Productions, which was started by Peter Hynds in 2011, describes itself as Swindon’s most uncompromising theatre company.

Its previous offerings include well-received productions of A Clockwork Orange and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

And their website promises they are not afraid to challenge themselves or their audience.
