A MULTIMEDIA display celebrating Wiltshire’s cultural diversity will be part of Wiltshire Council’s events around Black History Month this October.

A pioneering film project, displays, and a selected reading book list are some of the ways Black History Month will be marked in Wiltshire.

Wiltshire Council offices at County Hall in Trowbridge, Monkton Park in Chippenham and the new Springfield Campus in Corsham will have multi-cultural dishes to celebrate.

There will also be displays in County Hall.

From October 6 there will be posters and African jewellery and artefacts on show as well as an animated film based on short audio clips of interviews with local elders.

It was recorded as part of the black history project called SEEME which was supported by Wiltshire Council and captured memories of the elderly from Wiltshire’s black and minority ethnic (BME) communities.

From October 7 – 17 Monkton Park will host SEEME banners which will also be available to view at County Hall and the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre from October 20 Schools are also being sent details of resources and inspirational ideas to mark the month.
