CHOREOGRAPHER James Wilton created a work for the Rugby League World Cup in 2013 with 50 dancers performing as part of the opening ceremony at The Millennium Stadium and Wembley.

On Saturday, April 18, at 7.30pm, he will be bringing his latest production, Last Man Standing, to Theatre On The Hill in Marlborough, in association with the Swindon Dance company.

The award-winning choreographer has based his work on the Terry Pratchett novel Last Hero, with his six dancers energetically exploring the fragility of human existence with throws, lifts and slides in a desperate and determined battle for survival.

James has made his mark in many areas of dance being selected on to Dance Lines at the Royal Opera House and winning a BBC performing arts fellowship award in partnership with Swindon Dance.

The choreographic style of the James Wilton Dance Company is raw and dynamic movements, heavily laced with martial arts, breakdance and capoeira.

In Last Man Standing all are meshed into high octane flashes of dance, in bright contrast to the calm reverie of the more meaningful moments in the piece.

There is a chance to meet the dancers in a post performance talk and tickets are £10 and £8, groups of 10 or over £7 from Swindon Dance Box Office on 01793 601700. FLICKY HARRISON
