PLAYWRIGHT and director Peter Hynds was dared to write a horror for the stage, so the author took up the gauntlet with Game Face, a searing satire on the insatiable desire for celebrity status in today’s society.

It is being staged in Swindon, on Saturday, October 3.

Peter said: “I have always loved the idea of writing a horror play, but more than that, I wanted to produce a show that takes the audience on a twisted rollercoaster ride, so that they have no idea what’s to come. Game Face is definitely not for the faint hearted.’’

The play will be performed by TS Theatre Productions at Swindon’s Art Centre, Devizes Road, in Old Town from 7.30pm.

The plot revolves around six entrants in a new reality TV show where they have to strive for popularity.

The play asks just how far the contestants are prepared to go to win. It also asks what the price of fame is and whether it is worth it.

TS Theatre Productions, with Peter as director, are renowned for tackling gritty material like The Clockwork Orange, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Talented Mr Ripley.

Game Play is Peter’s third play. His first called Choice was performed in Swindon, London and Bristol and his second play #the order is due to be adapted for a film later this year, following a successful national tour.

Tickets for Game Play are £10. The play is recommended for those over the age of 16, as some people may find some scenes distressing. To book call 01793 524481.
