This new production is directed by Adam Penford who recently directed Alan Ayckbourn’s A Small Family Business and a revival of One Man, Two Guvnors, both for the National Theatre.

  • NEW THEATRE OXFORD Last Night a DJ Saved My Life, until January 30 DAVID Hasselhoff aka The Hoff, plays Ross, a riotous hedonist. He was once Ibiza’s top 80s DJ but hasn’t quite caught on that a new decade has dawned, disco is out, a fresh club scene is in.

He tries to keep up with the times and with Mandy, his new younger girlfriend (Hollyoaks’s Kim Tiddy). His already rocky life takes an unexpected turn when his teenage daughter Penny waltzes in and announces she’s here to stay. Father and daughter have not seen each other since his messy divorce three years ago. And his little girl is no longer a demure teenager but a wild child who quickly falls for Rik, the holiday rep. Set against a background of sun, sea, sex, drugs and the catchiest hits to rock the 80s and 90s when scrunchies were all the rage, it’s the story of two generations colliding, as a badly behaved parent tries to tame an out-of-control teen. Think Mamma Mia on speed or Friends meets Ibiza Uncovered.
