Tickets are on sale now for the return of the Russian State Ballet of Siberia to Swindon this spring.
More than 40 dancers accompanied by 30 musicians comprising the Orchestra Of The Russian State Ballet will be bringing The Snow Maiden and Swan Lake to the Wyvern Theatre from Thursday, March 29 to Saturday, March 31.
The Snow Maiden is based on a traditional folk tale set in the snow covered landscape of rural Russia. The Snow Maiden is protected from the outside world by Father Frost, in the enchanted Land of Frost, but her world changes as she dances with the snowflakes into a human village where she is carried away by feelings of love, temptation and betrayal and her heart melts...
The artistic director for this production is Sergei Bobrov and the musical director and conductor is Anatoly Tchepurnoi.
Sergei said: "It is always a pleasure to bring the unique traditions of Russian Ballet to British audiences. Touring across the UK with a full company of dancers as well as highly skilled musicians is always exciting, for me, it is very special to have the power of a symphony orchestra bringing the choreography to life on stage.''
Swan Lake is one of the most popular and heart rending ballets, set against Tchaikovsky's haunting score. The tragic tale of Odile the temptress and the pure swan queen Odette is played out in emotional intensity with the dual role being one of ballet's most technical challenges.
Tickets are from £36 and available from 01793 524481 or visit www.swindontheatres.co.uk
