GYMNASTS have been showing off their skills to help the launch of Disney's teen film Stick It on DVD.

Five girls from the Esprit Gymnastics Club in Stratton St Margaret spent the day in London with a Disney film crew at famous landmarks including Piccadilly Circus and the Houses of Parliament.

The idea was to show how the film's storyline inspires young people to be creative and enjoy gymnastics anywhere.

Scenes from the US film were re-enacted by the Esprit girls, and members of the public were encouraged to join in.

Hannah Wickens, 17, from Westlea, said: "It was such fun. People were watching and clapping and cheering us. We even stopped the traffic a few times."

Elise Hale, 16, from Cricklade said: "The film crew were great and made us feel at ease."

The other girls involved were Scarlett Rolt, 14, Kirsty Dalrymple, 18, and April Coombs, 13.

Scarlett said: "We were treated like stars and everyone made us feel really important for the day."

Stick It tells the story of a rebellious teenager in the world of gymnastics.

Since filming finished the girls have been very popular and have even been approached by children's TV show Blue Peter.

Club chairman Mark Hows said: "It really has put Swindon and Espirit on the map as a town that produces some really talented gymnasts."
