SWINDON Raw Boxing Club are back in action on Sunday at the Brunel Rooms.

The fundraising whitecollar boxers are taking on a group of boxers from Wales in their bid to raise £10,000 to help autistic eight-year-old Scott Pryce.

The youngster is in need of specialist treatment in Massachusetts, America, to help his cause.

Special guest on the night will be Joe Egan, the former sparring partner of heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson.

Egan, described as the toughest white man on the planet' by Tyson, will be on hand to present prizes to all the boxers. He will also be signing copies of his book Big Joe Egan' .

In their last fight, the Swindon Raw whitecollar boxers raised £1, 377 in an exhibition show where they all fought against each other.

Scott's father Mark is set to fight again this time taking on Andy Thorn.

Last time around Pryce fought Vince Ayres at the Brunel Rooms in a bout which ended in a draw.

"I'm going back in the ring again, " said 45-year-old Mark.

"I've done quite a few things in my time like jumping out of an aeroplane and that was scary. But there is nothing like being in that ring, it is without doubt the scariest thing I have ever done.

"It is very admirable of all the Swindon Raw boxers, they do their bit for charity and it keeps them off the streets.

"If they can all get in the ring and fight then I think it's the least that I can do to do the same.

"When it comes to helping out your own children there is nothing you won't do."

As well as raising money to send Scott to America on the speech and behaviour course, any excess funds raised will go to other local charities.

Stuart Harfield, who trains Swindon Raw at his valet and carwash garage in Villett Street, said: "The lads have all been working hard in the gym and are looking forward to the night.

"The lads from Wales will all be very tough lads, so it will be a real test for us."

Star guest Egan said: "I am looking forward to it.

"There is nothing easy about boxing. Anybody that thinks it is easy does not know what they are talking about.

"What these guys are doing, raising money for charity, is fantastic.

"These guys are training in a carwash in the cold and without all the hi-tech equipment but it will be the making of them."

Tickets cost £15 for the event which gets under way at the Brunel Rooms at 3pm. Contact Keith Mayo on 07789 890453 for details.
