A cocaine dealer was caught leaving his house with drugs hidden in his sock as police waited to raid it, a jury has been told.

Dwight Grant was found with four wraps of the drug when he was searched by police outside his home on Thursday, October 12 last year.

And when officers went to his house they found a further 23 wraps of the drug, along with scales, cash and what prosecutors claim is a list of clients.

The 39-year-old, of Seagry Court, Penhill, denies a charge of possessing drugs with intent to supply and is facing trial by jury at Swindon Crown Court.

David Chidgey, prosecuting, said Grant had a normal job working for Sita but supplemented his income by selling drugs.

He said an officer went to Grant's home in October last year and waited outside, only for Grant to come out minutes later.

After arresting him and finding the drugs police searched the house and found the other drugs in tobacco tins in the airing cupboard.

Mr Chidgey said in the kitchen a set of scales were found to have traces of drugs on them and on top of a wardrobe there was a CD case with £540 in cash in it.

He said officers also found a small A6 ring-bound notebook which contained a list of names with values of money written next to them which, it is claimed is a list of the people he has supplied with drugs.

When Grant was questioned he claimed that the drugs were his own and for his own consumption and not for supply.

Mr Chidgey said that there were too many drugs and in the wrong sized wraps for them to be Grant's own.
