POLICE raided two suspected drug dens and warned that anyone dealing in the town should expect a knock at the door.

No arrests were made at either address yesterday but Sgt Andrew Carr said it would not deter the police in the fight against drugs.

"We are going to keep on knocking on doors and acting on the information we receive," he said.

The early morning raids were carried out at a house in Pennycress Close, Haydon Wick, and at one in Cricklade Road. Both addresses are believed to be linked to one person.

At the Haydon Wick house, where a man and a woman were inside, police seized drug paraphernalia.

Officers also searched a Ford Escort on the drive.

Sgt Carr said: "Regretfully today was not successful but we will keep doing this.

"We will keep acting on the information the public provides us so please keep providing it. It was not successful this time but hopefully next time it will be."

Last month, police arrested four people in a house where crack cocaine was hidden not far from a young child's toys.

The drugs were discovered in the back garden of a house in Park South.

The lawn was littered with play things and the child had to be led away by a family friend while police searched the property.

Eleven officers were involved in the early morning raid. Two men, aged 18 and 43, a 44-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were arrested on suspicion of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply.

In February, officers carried out raids on suspected drug dens across the town.

More than 40 officers searched properties in Jennings Street, Emlyn Square, in the Railway Village, Oxford Street, North Street in Old Town and Westbourne Court, in Rodbourne.

They uncovered class A drugs, piles of cash and other evidence they said was linked to dealing.

Sgt Carr said: "We are going to keep disrupting people as much as we can.

"We have seized some items and we have gained information."

The Advertiser-backed drugs hotline was set up last year to allow people to pass on details to police about drug dealers. All calls are confidential.
