A MAN who indecently assaulting five women will not have to complete a sex offenders' programme - after he objected.

Paul Jennings was put on a three-year community order and told to complete a course to address his sex offending when he was sentenced last summer.

But the 24-year-old told the probation service that he would not take part in the group work on the Thames Valley Sex Offenders' Programme and does not believe he is a sex offender.

The case was returned to court where Judge Douglas Field imposed a three-month prison term knowing Jennings had already served the time and would be released immediately.

Although he is still subject to a sexual offences prevention order, banning him from approaching female strangers without good reason, Jennings has completed his sentence having served 95 days in custody on remand.

The dad-of-two, formerly of Welcombe Avenue, Park North, but now living on Bowden Crescent, Melksham, admitted five counts of indecent assault and asked for seven other matters to be taken into consideration last year.

He had been riding a bike around Coate Water when he preyed on women out jogging or cycling.

Marcus Davey, prosecuting, told Swindon Crown Court how the offending took place on April 17 last year. He said Jennings rode up to his victims, who were aged between 28 and 44, and groped them between the legs or on their backsides.

During one of the attacks he leered Oh sexy, you're sexy, you're sexy you are'.

Mr Davey said Jennings told probation officers he would walk out of group work as he takes the view he would be with paedophiles'.

Rob Ross, defending, said it was not that his client refused to complete the programme - just that he would not do group work.

"He feels he is not a sex offender as all he did was pinch their bottoms," Mr Ross said.

Mr Ross said his client had a long history of crime but had no other sexual convictions and had not offended since the indecent assaults.

Judge Douglas Field said: "I am quite satisfied that you have underlying problems which led you to behave in this sexual way.

"If you hadn't been so prejudiced and narrow-minded you would have got considerable benefit from the Thames Valley Sex Offenders' Programme. It is only because of your attitude that you failed.

"You have kept out of trouble, you've complied very well with the other part of the order, your supervision.

"I can't see the point in continuing the community order of any sort because the message I have received is you are still unmotivated. I am told the time you have served will allow your immediate release."
