TWO landlords have promised seafood delights after the controlling brewery announced a £100,000 investment in their landlocked pub.

Terry Beamish and Patricia Moloney, who took over as tenants of The Crown in Broad Hinton last week, are planning to refurbish the menu alongside the rest of the pub.

"We will be getting fresh fish from Grimsby every day," said Terry.

"We're planning to build up the restaurant's reputation and will also be looking to employ more staff from around the area to help us."

Terry, who was born in Wiltshire and is a trained chef, previously ran the Hope and Sirloin pub in London. His new project, situated just off the main Swindon to Devizes road, is undergoing a nine-week refurbishment courtesy of its owners, Arkell's Brewery.

The pub's toilets, floor and decor will all be overhauled.

George Arkell, of Arkell's Brewery, said: "The Crown is a very pretty pub in a lovely Wiltshire village, and deserves the refurbishment it is receiving.

"Terry and Patricia are first-class tenants, who have been used to running a busy and well-known London restaurant, where they were used to serving champagne and sirloin for breakfast.

"At the Crown, I think that a pint of 3Bs and a plate of fresh fish will have the same appeal.

"There's not a lot of call for champagne in the mornings in Wiltshire, although perhaps we'll break open a few bottles when the work on the pub finishes at the beginning of June."
