HUNDREDS of young fans packed into the Premier Club to watch top wrestlers in spectacular action.

Local heroes Dave Sharp and JD Knight locked arms in the UK 4 Front Wrestling Championships at the Stratton venue, but were stunned when northerner Mad Dog Max stepped in for a title shot against Sharp.

The evening saw seven bouts, featuring grapplers such as Dan Splash, Mashaka, Killer Kong and Jules Lambrini with Nadia.

Sharp, from West Swindon, was declared champion on the night after beating Mad Dog during a rugged bout which saw both men injured. And although the 26-year-old remains the undisputed champ, he must now face a challenge at the end of the month by other hungry opponents.

The wrestlers from 4fw train at Cheney Manor and are looking for more people to support Swindon's home-grown talent.

Jack Ellis, eight, and his brothers Luke, seven, and Liam, five, said they loved being able to interact with the wrestlers.

Jack said: "My favourite is El Ligero, who does the somersault kick.

"I like how you can shake hands with the wrestlers and touch them, not to mention the flips and moves.

"I want to be a wrestler when I grow up."

Luke said: "It is my second time coming here. I like the wrestler Bubble Gum. But my favourite move is still the tombstone by my favourite wrestler, The Undertaker."

Angelene Anslantepe, the show announcer, said she wanted even more fans to show up to the next show.

She said: "It is obvious that the more fans you get the more electric the atmosphere will be. Usually that means the wrestlers will put on a better performance, too.

"It is so much fun for the fans because we produce a WWE experience on their front doorstep."

Tickets are priced £8 for adults, £6 children and £25 for a family of four. Anyone interested in attending the next event, on May 31 at the Premier Club, is asked to visit the website or call 01793 574600.
