GREEN pleas are being made by the National Trust ahead of this year's solstice celebrations at Avebury.
Every year thousands of people flock to the Wiltshire village's stone circles to mark the longest day of the year.
But this year the National Trust is urging anyone planning on attending the annual celebrations to make their way by public transport.
As in previous years, there will be no public parking in Avebury except at the National Trust sites. There will be no access at all to the car park on June 20 and 21 for high-sided vehicles, including camper vans, caravans and motorhomes and once the parking area is full, there will be nowhere else to park.
On-road parking is not permitted.
Scott Green, National Trust property manager for Avebury, said: "We very much want to repeat the success of last year's solstice observances, which were peaceful for the residents of the village and for those taking part."
