MEETING Keith Chegwin at the Wyvern Theatre’s pantomime was a Christmas Wish come true for the Stevens family.
Mum Zara nominated her children Jake and Molly, along with their grandmother Sharon, for the Adver’s Christmas Wish Appeal last year.
Zara, of Haydon End, put the trio forward following the death of her sister Zoe Stevens in June 2011.
She told us that Zoe was a rock to Jake, who suffers from autism and ADHD, and he and Molly had been struggling to come to terms with the loss.
“I was ecstatic when I heard you were granting our wish. I was also tearful because we hadn’t done anything since June. It has been tough for the whole family to come to terms with,” she said.
The Wyvern Theatre arranged for the family to be VIP guests at last year’s pantomime performance of Cinderella.
As part of the wish, they got to meet Keith Chegwin, who played Buttons, and who is also starring in this year’s pantomime, before the show.
We launched our Christmas Wish Appeal 2012 recently - and we want to hear from you about the people who deserve an extra special treat this year.
From December 11 to Christmas Eve, we will be granting a wish a day for one worthy person or group in Swindon or the nearby villages.
Wishes can be big or small – our aim is simply to make Christmas as magical as possible for those who deserve it most.
If you can think of someone who needs or deserves cheering up this Christmas, we want to hear from you. Tell us who the person is, why they need a Christmas Wish and how we can help. You can send in your nomination in the following ways:
By email: Click here to send us details of who deserves a Christmas Wish. Please remember to include what the wish should be and why. Give your email the subject header ‘Christmas Wish 2012’. Please be sure to include your own phone number and the number of the person you are nominating.
