X-FACTOR sensation Jahmene Douglas will switch on the Christmas lights in the town centre, the Adver can reveal.

The Swindon-based star has wowed the nation and the judges on the TV talent show and is now set for a huge welcome on his homecoming this Wednesday as he kickstarts the town's Christmas.

Town centre management company inSwindon confirmed Jahmene will be arriving along with a film crew after the 21-year-old stormed through to next weekend's final.

The lights switch-on was postponed over fears about severe weather conditions and so it was moved to Wednesday, December 5.

The festivities will start from 5pm in Wharf Green, featuring local music and dance acts, Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio and the Elite League-winning Swindon Robins speedway side.

Simon Jackson Chief Executive of inSwindon said: "It’s fantastic that we have managed to secure Jahmene to be part of the celebrations.

"Jahmene’s achievement so far just adds to the fantastic accomplishments 2012 has seen. The whole of Swindon is behind Jahmene so it’s our pleasure to have him part of our light switch-on."
