A FUNDRAISING weekend to help send an eight-year-old on the holiday of a lifetime has raised more than £3,500.
The Windmill pub, in Freshbook, held a family fun day and poker tournament on January 26-27 to raise the fund for Harley Stockwell, who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy when he was three. It causes his muscle to waste away and could mean he will be in a wheelchair by the age of 10.
During the weekend, nearly 90 people entered a charity poker night and the younger customers enjoyed a kids’ fun day.
Money continued to flow in during the week, as supporters bought raffle tickets to win the chance of using a Jaguar for a weekend.
The money raised will send Harley, of Redhouse, and his family on their first holiday since Harley was born.
Pub manager Nigel Turrell, said: “The amount of money we have raised so far is phenomenal.”
