A PERVERT doctor who used a camera inside a James Bond-style wristwatch to record himself abusing female patients is facing jail.

Dr Davinderjit Bains, 45, appeared at Swindon Crown Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to 39 counts of sexual assault and voyeurism.

The family GP also asked for a further 65 offences to be taken into consideration, including 10 offences of sexual assault by penetration.

The case started in June last year with a single complaint of sexual assault from a 19-year-old female who was, at the time, lodging with Bains at his home address in Nyland Road.

She said that during the short time she was staying with Bains she suspected that he was videoing her while she was taking a shower in the bathroom using a watch that he placed on a shelf.

She became suspicious because he took exception one day when she tried to move the watch.

Police attended Tinkers Lane Surgery in Royal Wootton Bassett Surgery where Bains had worked for four years and arrested him for the sexual assault and the voyeurism of the 19-year-old female lodger.

They found that Bains was wearing a second watch while at work, and data recovered from that one revealed that over a three year period he had been secretly recording intimate examinations of his patients and downloading the images onto his home laptop.

The female patients range from the ages of 14 to 51. Police said the videos were only for his own use and not shared.

Bains filmed the attacks on his Tieex 4GB Waterproof HD Spy Watch DVR, which has been likened to something out of a 007 film.

It has a built-in camera on the face – with simple on and off buttons to record – and can be bought on the internet for less than £60.

In one case, a 14-year-old female patient sat on the couch in Bains’ appointment room at the surgery. Despite her mum sitting by the desk in the same room with just a curtain between them, Bains continued to sexually abuse the child.

Bains gave not guilty pleas to three charges of sexual assault and a single count of administering a noxious drug with intent to commit a sexual offence, which were accepted by the Crown and will lie on file.

Judge Douglas Field will sentence Bains in eight weeks’ time.

He said: “This is a complicated case and I am going to ask for the prosecution to assist me in the sentencing exercise.”

Det Insp Mark Garrett, head of Swindon CID, said: “A large number of female patients, including teenage girls, put their trust in this man to treat them with the professionalism, care and discretion that we all expect of our family doctor.

“But today he stands exposed as someone who has utterly betrayed that trust for his own sexual gratification.”

Bains, who is separated from his wife, came to the UK 10 years ago from Malaysia as a qualified GP and started practising immediately.

Police have gone back to his previous employers to establish if there has been any similar behaviour but none has been discovered. He had been working at the Royal Wootton Bassett surgery for four years before he was suspended.
