AFTER years of spooky goings-on, investigators have confirmed that regulars at the Boundary House are not drinking alone.

The town’s Spirit Investigator Team, accompanied by a medium, found ghosts called James and Catherine in the bar area, one called Alf in the cellar and two little girls called Amy and Tilly upstairs during a visit to the pub in Moredon on March 16.

Manager Dave Howells said he had noticed items going missing for years, and he became convinced the pub was haunted when the team handed him divining rods.

“Downstairs there are little things happening all the time. “You put something down and you know you put it there but then it is moved,” he said.

“I am open minded. There is something there. The only thing I can say without a shadow of a doubt is I had those rods there and they moved.”

The investigation started at 1am and the group, which also included people who came for the experience, started in the bar.

Members of the group saw glasses move at one end of the bar and felt considerable drops in temperature. Orbs and smoke swirls were seen in the mirror above the fireplace and two mugs hanging on a shelf were moving.

They then moved to the upstairs hallway and sitting room, where they found Amy and Tilly.

Group members experienced hair being played with, faces being tickled and they also saw someone small peeking around the corner.

In the cellar they found Alf, who the medium believes was a heavy smoker who may have collapsed and died of respiratory failure.

Some people felt their chest go tight and others felt blowing on their faces. While they were down in the cellar, they asked Alf to give them a sign, and a bottle that Dave had put on the floor moved.

“There might be a reason for the blowing or the bottle moving or the cold drafts but I know that those rods moved on their own. It all works off energy,” said Dave.

“Most of the regulars don’t believe it. I have always believed in an after life of some description.

“I have been here eight years but the pub is more than 150 years old. The medium said she sensed back as far as Saxon times.”

The Spirit Investigation Team will be returning in August. Julie Hillier, of Park North, a member of the Spirit Investigation Team, said: “It is definitely haunted. It doesn’t scare us as investigators because we love it all.

“We had a group come with us and they loved it and they all want to go again. It was a very good evening.”

The Spirit Investgator Team includes Julie’s husband, Matt, as well as Sue and Tony Covey.
