NURSES at the Ridgeway Hospital in Wroughton were treated to afternoon tea to celebrate International Nurses Day.
The annual event is held to mark the contributions made by nurses to society.
As well as a tea of scones with jam and cream, each of the nurses was given a present from the hospital to thank them for their hard work.
“It’s really nice to be appreciated for what we do and to get some recognition,” said Filipe Alocobia, 36, a theatre nurse who has worked at the hospital for six months. “I really enjoy working here.
“The most important thing to being a good nurse is to make sure the patients are as comfortable as possible.”
International Nurses Day has been running for almost 50 years. The official day was on Sunday but Ridgeway moved the day so more nurses could take part.
Chris Godden, 56, a nurse in the day surgery department for four years, said: “It’s really nice to be recognised for the work we do looking after people here. The staff are all really good and work very hard.”
