CIRCUS Wonderland is heading for Swindon.

Billed as the UK’s newest and most magical circus, it will be at the Oasis Leisure Centre from Wednesday to Sunday next week, May 15 to 19.

Circus Wonderland’s directors are Kriss Freear and Paul Carpenter, who for the last decade have been better known as clowns Kakehole and Popol and have toured with various circuses all over the UK. The duo, who both ran away from home to join different circuses before forming their act together, have always dreamed of owning their show but admit that the romance is very different from the reality of life on the road. “Our biggest problems used to be aiming a custard pie in the right direction,” said Kriss, otherwise known as Kakehole. “Now we are worrying about paying the wages, losing our ground deposits with the mud and generally how to get people in through the door!”

Other acts in Circus Wonderland include Duo Stefaneli, who fly into the roof of the Big Top in their glittering spaceship, and Miss Klaudia, who perches at the top of a 20-ft pole balanced on her husband’s head.”

Performance times will be 4.30pm and 7.30pm on the weekdays, 2pm and 5pm on the Saturday and 2pm on the Sunday. Tickets are £12 for adults and £10 for children, or £7 on the first day. Call the box office on 07531 612240.
