Professional flautist Rachel Illsley opened her bridal shop in Coxwell Street, in Faringdon, six months ago and has not stopped since.

The doors were opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony by the Faringdon Mayor Mike Wise.

“The shop has been well received in the locality and customers have come from Faringdon and the rest of Wiltshire and Oxfordshire,” said Rachel.

She began her career in weddings through her music. Rachel is a trained flautist and played for many weddings before her brides told her that she should also open up a bridal gown shop.

“As well as bridal gowns, bridesmaids’ and occasion dresses, flowergirls’ dresses and prom dresses I have added mother of the bride and bridal shoe collections.

“I have an amazing stock of tiaras/headdresses, jewellery, ring cushions, garters and very soon hen party items.

“My prices are reasonable and I have an excellent relationship with all my designers enabling me to give my customers the best service.

“I always get excited at being able to help with the brides to find their dream dress”

Rachel also carries out the dress alterations, which means that all customers receive her undivided attention.

Wedding fairs are also a big feature of Rachel's’ Weddings and the last event at Sudbury House Hotel, in Faringdon, included the film double of James Bond- Douglas James who even brought along his DB9 sports car. The whole event was filmed by Flicky Harrison, of Flick’s Video Productions .

“My wedding fairs are upbeat and I work hard to ensure a good mix of exhibitors and live music,” Rachel said “My next wedding fair will be on June 16 at Alexandra House, in Wroughton, where there will be an opportunity to watch Rachel’s fashion show and buy from some of the exhibitors on the day.”
