SWINDON Town’s latest signing is set to make his home debut against Stevenage and is hoping to wow fans with his special moves.

Josh Lambdon emerged through the gruelling X Factor-style audition process as the man to take over from outgoing Tom Hartley as club mascot Rockin’ Robin.

The 23-year-old said he is looking forward to stepping into the fans favourite’s shoes and has some of his own ideas for moves to match Tom’s famous Haka.

In his audition tape, which is available on the Adver website, Josh can be seen performing the sprinkler, the running man and also the worm set to a medley of We Will Rock You and Rockin’ Robin.

Town fan Josh, who is a salesman by trade, is also looking to get out into the community and is confident he can dedicate plenty of time to the role.

He said: “It feels great and I’m really excited to be starting in a few weeks.

“I went for it because I thought it would be a good thing to do and my mates said I’ve got some moves on a Saturday night.

“The audition was hard, I don’t know how I managed to do the worm in the suit – the head fell off. Me and three friends, Eliot Wheatley, Ed Herbert and Brad Hooper, worked on the routine beforehand and I was taking it quite seriously.

“We spent quite a lot of time on it and putting it to the music. We put all the classic dance moves in there like the running man, the worm and the sprinkler.

“I hope I can fill Tom’s shoes because he was a bit of a role model for mascots and he dedicated a lot of time and effort.

“I work in sales but I am ready to dedicate as much time as I can and I want to get out there in the community.

“I’ve done a bit of work with kids as I did sports coaching at university and worked with Commonweal with PE lessons, so it’s something I wanted to get back in to.”

Adam Wainwright, the marketing and promotions executive at Swindon Town, said: “We picked Josh in the end because we felt he had the confidence to make it his own.

“He has got to take over from Tom and also he is doing something a little bit different.

“He is a very confident lad and what he wants to do with the job is exactly what we wanted for the role.

“There is an opportunity to go to more community events and perhaps link up with the Football in the Community guys, as well as maybe the speedway team.

“Josh is coming in for a chat about making sure we polish the routine and it will be exciting to see how it goes against Stevenage.”
