THE Mayor of Swindon, Nick Martin, has had an offer of resignation rejected by the Labour group, who are seeking to bring a vote of no confidence to the council.
Coun Martin offered to stand down on Christmas Eve if complaints made against him by two fellow councillors were withdrawn. But the offer was turned down by Coun John Ballman, and a special meeting of the council will now convene on 19 December, where the motion of no confidence in the serving mayor will be held.
