Frantic calls in bid to find missing 21-year-old man

CONCERNS are growing for the safety of a young man who went missing from his home more than four days ago.

Twenty-one-year-old Andrew Bilko, of Greenmeadow, was last seen at home on Thursday night but left at some point after 1.00am on Friday morning.

Police believe Andrew, known as Andy, was at Reading Station later that morning but frantic calls to all of his friends have failed to provide any clues as to his whereabouts.

His family describe his disappearance as very much out of character and something he has never done before.

Sam Collier, his brother-in-law, 26, of Cheney Manor, said: “The whole family just want him to come home or at least just get in contact as soon as possible.

“Everyone is so worried at the moment. We don’t care what the reasons are or if he is in any trouble. None of that matters as long as he is safe.

“This is so unlike him and we have no idea as to why he would disappear.”

Andy has lived in Swindon all his life and was a pupil at St Joseph’s College before going to university.

He graduated from Southampton University in the summer so has friends living in that area but none are aware of Andy’s whereabouts.

Since completing his degree he has been living with his family whilst looking for work related to his psychology course.

Having been brought up in Swindon, Andy has a large number of friends in the town, many of whom he regularly plays football with.

In a bid to try and find him, family members travelled to Reading last night to search the area.

Sam said: “Everything was fine on Thursday evening and there was nothing to suggest he was going to leave.

“We noticed he was missing on Friday morning and got suspicious when we couldn’t contact him so called the police later that day.

“He is a really outgoing person who would do anything for anyone.

“It took us almost two days to go through and contact all of his friends but none of them have seen or heard from him.”

Detective Sergeant Tom Straker from Swindon CID said: “We have learned that Andrew is clearly a popular, intelligent young man who has a very close and supportive family, who are, understandably very concerned about the nature of his disappearance.

“This has been described as being very out of character and we urge anyone with any information about Andrew's whereabouts to contact Wiltshire Police immediately.

“Andrew's family just want him to come home, they care about nothing else, they ask Andrew contacts them, if only briefly to let them know he is safe as they are extremely worried.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
