Help shape provision of health services

Swindon Advertiser: Help shape provision of health services Help shape provision of health services

NHS chiefs are asking the people of Swindon for their views on plans for the future of health in the town over the next two years.

Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the organisation responsible for buying healthcare for Swindon, has released its Commissioning Intentions report for 2014-2016, setting out its priorities.

These include a strong focus on cancer and urgent care as well as self-care and prevention.

The CCG will be responsible for buying £228m of local health services in the next year alone and will work with experts as well as members of the public to decide where to prioritise investment. As part of the consultation process, members of the public are invited to express their opinions and voice any potential concerns at a meeting being held on Wednesday, February 26 between 6pm and 8pm at New College, Queen’s Drive, Swindon.

A spokesman for Swindon CCG said: “This is the first of a series of listening events that NHS Swindon Clinical Commissioning Group is holding in order to gain the views of local residents and patients on how we design and deliver local health services on their behalf over the coming two years.

“The first of these events will be a listening exercise where people can raise their questions and thoughts to our initial plans.

“We will then hold further events in coming months to respond to what we have heard, how we have adapted our plans based on the feedback received and present the agreed vision for the future of Swindon’s healthcare from our clinical leaders.”
