SWINDON: A Moredon man who is accused of raping a young girl 30 years ago has been released on bail by a judge. Michael Ashmore was appearing at Swindon Crown Court accused of repeatedly abusing the child between 1980 and 1982.
The 47-year-old is accused of two counts of rape of a female under 16 and eight of indecent assault on a female under 14.
No charges were formally put to the defendant, of Pembroke Gardens, and he did not enter any plea during the hearing. The case was adjourned to May 9 and he was released on bail on condition he does not contact the alleged victim.
