SWINDON: A judge has remanded into custody two men who are accused of a series of rapes of a young girl.
David Araujo and Elvio Gomes are said to have committed the sex offences between February 3 and 6. Araujo, 35, of no fixed abode, and Gomes, 38, of Beatrice Street, face nine counts of rape of a child under 16.
No charges were put to the pair, who needed a Portuguese interpreter, when they appeared at Swindon Crown Court by video link from Bristol prison. Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to May 9 and remanded the pair in custody until then.
