Hooded thieves take £2k from pensioner
WILTSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of money from an 85-year-old woman.
The incident happened at George Hall Court, a block of self contained flats occupied by elderly residents, of which the victim is one, on Saturday January 11, at 7.12am.
Two females entered the victim’s room, hoisted her out of her bed and took her into the lounge.
The women then made the victim a banana sandwich and left.
After they had gone, it was found that about £2,000 had been stolen from a bag hidden in the victim’s bedroom.
The first suspect is described as a white female, about 20 to 25 years old, between 5ft 2ins and 5ft 3ins tall, of average build with messy shoulder-length blonde hair which covered her face.
The second suspect is described as a white female, aged between 25 and 30 years old, same height and build as the first suspect but with brown, straight hair.
Both suspects were wearing dark jackets with their hoods up and dark jeans.
Both suspects appear to be aware of CCTV at the property as they cover their faces when walking past the cameras.
CCTV images of the women police would like to speak to in connection with the incident have now been released.
Detective Constable Kirsty Wilson from the Swindon Priority Crime Team at Wiltshire Police said: “This is an appalling crime which has been a complete abuse of trust.
“The victim is an elderly female who relies on care from others. She has been left understandably upset by what has happened.
“The two suspects clearly know the layout of the property and appear to be well aware of the CCTV cameras as they have done their best to hide their faces throughout.
“I would appeal to anyone who has information on this crime to come forward and speak to us immediately.”
Anyone with information should contact DC Wilson on 101 ext. 760374 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
