THE mother of X Factor star Jahmene Douglas, who herself was a victim of domestic violence, is helping to support a campaign against the issue.
Mandy Thomas, who is also a well known artist locally and nationally, is supporting the Respect Not Violence campaign by auctioning off one of her own paintings.
Earlier this month, Mandy helped launch a balloon release at Swindon’s International Women’s Day celebrations.
Now her painting of a tiger, which has been valued at between £800 and £1,000, will be auctioned off with bids starting at £100.
A Respect Not Violence exhibition will also be held upstairs in The Brunel Centre by the children’s play area this Tuesday and Wednesday with posters displayed around the centre.
Steve Fawke, centre manager, said: “The Brunel is very happy to work with the community and support this worthwhile and necessary campaign.”
T-shirts supporting the cause can also be purchased from The Little Print shop in Victoria Road, Old Town. Call 01793 488765 to make an order.
