Police in Swindon have released CCTV of a man sought following an armed robbery at a town centre bookmakers this morning, Friday 28 March.

Officers were called to Ladbrokes bookmakers at 9.40am following reports of man entering the shop and using a handgun to demand money from the till.

He then left the store and the area on foot and is believed to have taken approximately £400 in notes in a rucksack.

Searches of the area, including use of the police helicopter, have been on-going in the town.

CCTV images of a man that officers want to speak to have been released and anyone who recognises him are asked to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

A female cashier, who the man approached, is currently being supported by officers and assisting us with our enquiries.

Central Inspector Paul Saunders said: "We currently have officers on the ground supporting both the victim and assisting the investigation team.

"We appreciate that incidents like this can be frightening for any community but we are using all necessary resources to find this man.

"There is and there will continue to be an increased visible presence of police in the town today and anyone with concerns can approach officers who will happy to discuss these."
