LYNEHAM Youth Club is celebrating after having received more than £2,000 from the Armed Forces Community Covenant Grant Scheme.

The scheme aims to support projects which connect the armed forces and local communities.

And now money has been granted to help fund the junior youth club, which meets on Friday evenings in the community rooms at Lyneham Primary School.

Huw Solly, project manager of the group, said the funding would secure the hire of the room at the school until November of next year, and would also help to provide additional sports plus art and craft equipment.

He added: “We’re very pleased to receive the funding.

“We’ve plugged a gap in provision to help young people from both civilian and military have somewhere to go until the new community centre is open.”

Groups can now apply for the next round of community covenant grants, which closes on Friday.
