RAP, street dance, a pop tribute and even a drag performance are just some of the offerings in store at Commonweal School’s cabaret night in aid of the Adver’s 160 Appeal for Prospect Hospice.

Pupils and teachers will leave seriousness and, for some, their dignity, at the door as they put on a variety night showcasing their talent and humorous side on Friday, May 21.

The festivities are expected to raise £2,000 for the Wroughton Hospice .

“Prospect is a charity the school has lots of links with,” said Ali Sutcliffe, the head of music. “One of our members of staff passed away a couple of years ago and Prospect helped a lot.

“Other staff have had family members helped by Prospect and we have parents who work there.”

Ali introduced the showcase at the secondary school in 2011 to raise funds for charities VICTA (Visually Impaired Children Taking Action) and CLIC Sargent.

It proved so popular that the school staged a second cabaret in 2013 and the fundraiser has now been adopted as an annual fixture in the Commonweal calendar.

Tickets to the cabaret night cost £5 and will be available at the door. The show will start at 7.30pm.

The school is asking for donations for its auction on the night. To donate a prize call 01793 612727.

To make a donation to Prospect visit www.prospect-hospice.net or call 01793 816161.
