TWO friends from Royal Wootton Bassett are getting on their bikes to help provide support for injured soldiers.
Lucy Sherry-Harte, 44, and Caroline Redmond, 39, are both taking part in a 50km charity cycle in aid of Hounds For Heroes on Sunday.
The charity provides assistance dogs for disabled servicemen and women and, as both women are dog owners they thought it would be the perfect choice.
Lucy has a border terrier, Poppy, and Caroline has a black Labrador called KC.
“I heard about Hounds for Heroes and thought what a good cause it was,” said Lucy.
“With us both now being dog-owners ourselves I thought it would be a very fitting thing to do.
“We’ve not done a lot of training yet, but we’re really looking forward to it.
“I go to regular spin classes so I’m used to cycling. We’re just hoping it doesn’t rain.”
The pair have already managed to raise more than £600 but need more if they are to reach their target.
Lucy said: “I’ve done some charity bike rides before but never this one.
“Our colleagues at Vygon have been very supportive and we’re hoping we can hit the £1,000 mark by the time we’ve finished.”
