Wigs make hair-raising £75,000

First published in News

SWINDON Co-op store helped raise £75,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust in just three days thanks to generous donations at events held by The Midcounties Co-operative across Wiltshire.

The Get Wiggy events saw colleagues at the Sussex Square, Old Town and Cavendish Square stores don wigs and fancy dress to encourage customers to get involved with in-store fundraising.

Other activities such as tombolas, cake sales, bag packing and till donations all took place to raise funds for The Midcounties Co-operative’s charity partner.

The funds raised from the events brings to £375,000 the total collected so far by The Midcounties Co-operative for the charity – just 25 per cent away from its £500,000 target.
