Police helicopter scrambled after man is spotted with sword

First published in News

POLICE cars and the helicopter were spotted scrambling across the town centre yesterday afternoon as they responded to calls about a man carrying a sword in Whitworth Road.

Several squad cars were seen speeding towards Pinehurst.

When officers arrived it transpired the man had simply been practising martial arts in his garden with the sword.

Officers offered him words of advice and left.

How about the police offer some words of advice to the panic at anything brigade and then charge them with wasting police time.
