GOOD causes in Swindon have received grants of £8,102 awarded by The Midcounties Co-operative.
The grants have been issued following successful applications to its Community Fund, and form part of a total of £92,000 awarded to worthy recipients throughout The Midcounties Co-operative’s trading areas.
Among the six Swindon organisations receiving grants at a presentation event in Old Town was the Breaking Free Female Support Project, which received £2,000 to be spent towards counselling, salaries and the costs of premises.
Also benefitting from a donation will be the Swindon and District branch of Parkinson’s UK, which was given £2,000 to fund weekly balance and exercise sessions for sufferers of Parkinson’s disease.
Maxine Sharman, head of community engagement at The co-operative, said: “The Midcounties Co-operative is passionate about the communities in which it operates, and we are delighted to announce this latest series of grants.
“Our Community Fund forms a vital part of our pledge to help build sustainable communities, allowing worthy organisations and charities throughout Swindon to continue their vital work whilst embodying co-operative values.”
