A CYCLIST has been found unconscious on the side of a road in Royal Wootton Bassett.

Emergency services received a call to the scene on Brinkworth Road at 4.01pm following reports that a male cyclist had been found unconscious and not breathing.

He is believed to be in his 40s.

A paramedic in a rapid-response vehicle was sent to the scene.  An ambulance and the Wiltshire Air Ambulance followed. 

The cyclist is currently receiving advance life support. He is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest.

Drivers should avoid the area while the road is closed.
