KEEN fundraiser Dawn Flanagan has become the latest pin-up on a nude calendar for charity.

Dawn, who regularly raises money for charity, decided this year she would do another bike ride to raise money for Macmillan.

She said: “I do something every year for charity but this year I wanted to do something bigger and better.

“I knew I wanted to do the bike ride again and I got a group of us together, so now five or six of us are doing it.

“Last year I did a 50km bike ride, and this year I’ve stepped it up a bit and I’m going to do 65km. We’ll start out from Woodlands Edge pub in Peatmoor and go to Avebury and Marlborough before coming back to Woodlands Edge.”

But as well as getting on her bike, Dawn, of Peatmoor, also dared to bare for a naked calendar to raise money.

She said: “My husband said why don’t I try doing a calendar, like they did in Calendar Girls, and I thought about it and I spoke to a few people and I got a group of 12 of us to take part.

“We had the photoshoot on June 14 and now we are just waiting for them to be printed.”

As well as the calendar and the bike ride, Dawn is also hosting a charity Fun Day at Woodlands Edge on July 19.

She said: “There’s going to be a raffle, a bouncy castle, stalls, a pool tournament and lots of other things, all to help raise money for Macmillan.”

Dawn hopes to raise in excess of £2,000 and has already succeeded on raising £700.

She said: “I want to raise as much as I can. I haven’t been affected by cancer myself but it has affected so many people I know and it’s just such a terrible disease. I also don’t think the Macmillan nurses get as much recognition as they deserve.

“I think a lot of people do raise money for Cancer Research but there isn’t really much to support the people who help the sufferers which is why I wanted to support them.

“Next year I think we want to try and go bigger again. We’ve really already started planning it. I think we’re thinking about doing a longer bike ride, across the country.”

Calendars cost £5 each with proceeds going to Macmillan.

They will be on sale at the Fun Day, but you can pre-order by emailing Dawn at flanagandawn@ rocketmail.com.
