A PENSIONER who repeatedly sexually abused a young child has been told to expect a jail term.
Peter Cavilla, who must now register as a sex offender, admitted molesting the girl in the mid 1980s starting when she was just eight years old.
The 70-year-old pleaded guilty to four counts of indecent assault and one of indecency with a child when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.
Cavilla, of Abbey View Road, Moredon, abused the girl, when she was aged eight to twelve, in the five years up to the end of 1987.
Rob Ross, defending, asked for the case to be adjourned so he could obtain a medical report on his client.
Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to Friday, August 1 and released him on bail to not have contact with children under the age of 16.
He said: “It is almost inevitable that you will receive a custodial sentence so the fact that I am granting you bail shouldn’t be taken as any indication of the outcome of your case.”
