A CHARITY curry night has served up £560 which will be split between Prospect Hospice and the Goldenhar Family Support Group.

The two good causes are mayor Teresa Page’s nominated charities for the year.

The funds were raised by an event held at The Curry Place, in Rodbourne, on July 7.

Owner Mahmod Ali handed over a cheque on Monday. He said: “The Curry Place has held events to support the charities of Swindon mayors since 2007 and they have always been very successful year after year.

“We want to make it clear that we will continue doing this and supporting the community.

“I’d like to thank everyone who supported the event and my hardworking staff who helped put on a great night.”

The mayor said: “The Curry Place is always one of the first businesses in Swindon to come forward and offer support. We had a lovely meal, their staff were great and this money is a real boost for the two charities.

“I really appreciate that times are lean and it is great to see that people still take the time to attend events like these and put their hands in their pockets. I’d like to say thank you to the Curry Place and everyone who attended.”
