THE Swindon Local Safeguarding Children Board is looking for volunteers to support public engagement in local child safety issues.

The LSCB, which is a partnership of organisations that work with children and young people in Swindon and has a statutory responsibility for overseeing how agencies work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of Swindon’s children and young people, are looking to appoint two lay volunteers.

Applicants have until September 8 to apply for the post, which will include contributing to an improved understanding of the LSCB’s child protection work in the wider community, challenge the LSCB on the accessibility by the public and children and young people of its plans and procedures, and help to make links between the LSCB and community groups.

No formal qualifications are required but lay members will need to live in the town and will need to participate fully in the work of the Board, ask constructive questions and give an informed opinion.
