A 66-YEAR-OLD woman was taken to hospital on Tuesday night after crashing into one of the new traffic calming pillars on Tadpole Lane.

Shortly after 6pm, the woman was driving her Vauxhall Corsa along Tadpole Lane, in North Swindon, when she collided with one of the pillars.

She suffered chest pains and was taken to Great Western Hospital for treatment.

In January of this year, Tadpole Lane was closed for several weeks for the new measures to be installed, including a 30mph speed restriction, new chicanes and rumble strips.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: “A 66-year-old female was taken to hospital with minor injuries on Tuesday evening after a road traffic accident on Tadpole Lane.

“Please be mindful when using this road, it is 30mph and there are traffic calming pillars on the road that can be harder to see at night time.”

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called to a single vehicle road traffic incident at 6.03pm on Tuesday at Tadpole Lane in Swindon.

“There was one casualty, a 66-year-old female, who had suffered chest pains. She was taken to Great Western Hospital in Swindon for treatment, and we left the scene after approximately one hour after she had been treated at the scene and checked over to make sure she was okay.”
