HER mammoth 24-hour non-stop walk is fast approaching and reporter Liz Mackley is counting on strength in numbers to raise valuable funds for the 160 Appeal.

Liz, along with friend and personal trainer Ronny Terry, will embark on the challenge on October 31 in aid of the Adver’s campaign for Prospect Hospice.

The pair have entered their final fundraising push ahead of the walk and are urging friends and supporters to help them reach their ambitious £1,000 target at a curry night at Lalbagh on Monday, October 20.

Anyone who donates more than £10 prior to the dinner through their Just Giving page will be entered into a prize draw. The winners will be announced on Monday night.

Prizes include a voucher for a selection box of bespoke cupcakes with personalised toppers from Little Miss Cakemaker, a voucher for a 45-minute relaxation session at Pebbles Hypnoteherapy, a voucher for a riding session with Rein and Shine, a voucher for a standard will prepared by Peter Johnson from Awdry, Bailey & Douglas Solicitors, two lots of two Premier Enclosure tickets to the races at Newbury on Ocotber 25, a voucher for coffee and cake for two at Baila, a bottle of bubbly, a box of chocolates and a pampering selection.

Their friendship grew when Liz set out to lose three stone in three months to be allowed to carry out a skydive for Prospect Hospice.

The 25-year-old shed more than 20 kilos and took the plunge at the end of August.

The walk seemed like the natural next step – for Ronny at least.

“I met Ronny earlier this year when he gave me his help to lose three stone in three months so I could do a skydive at the end of August,” said Liz.

“Following that Ronny roped me into the greatest test of physical and mental endurance yet.

“On October 31, we will be carrying out our very own Halloween Walk From Hell, setting off from Old Town at 8am, and will not stop walking – except perhaps for toilet breaks – until 8am on All Saints Day.

“To help raise some money we are having a curry night buffet next Monday evening at the Lalbagh in Rodbourne Road, and it would be great if as many people as possible could come along.”

The evening will start at 7pm.

Tickets cost £10 and will be available on the night.
